A finely carved light green Pre Columbian maya jade pectoral carved in the form of a jaguar. The carver skillfully incorporated the natural countours and irregular shape of the jade into the design, allowing the stones original form to guide the composition. The flowing lines and overlapping features create the impression of hidden figures within the carving. Measures 1 3/4" length x 1 1/8" width. Acquired from a Miami, Florida estate collection originally acquired in the 1960's.
